Leading article of the President of the ESG,
Dr Clara Pélissier

Created since 1992 by Professor Albert Netter and Doctor Alice Lambert-Netter, the European Society of Gynecology seems, today in 2009, to have entirely achieved its aims:

  • To bring together all the European Gynecologists, of all the sensitivities, all the specialities: surgery and/or obstetrics, medical gynecology and/or endocrinology, medicine of the reproduction and male and female infertility, etc…
  • To confront our experiments and our practices, within the same learned society, where each European country is represented, at the Office and/or the Board of directors.

Already 7 Congresses - in 7 European countries – gathered very many participants with recognized scientific qualities of programs:

  • 1995: Algarve - Portugal: Pr. Agosthino de Almeida Santos, (Coimbra);
  • 1997: Göttinguen - Germany: Pr. Walter Kühn;
  • 1999: Bruges - Belgium: Pr. Karl Thomas (Brussels);
  • 2001: Barcelona - Spain: Pr. Joachim Calaf
  • 2003: Rhodos - Greece: Pr. George Creatsas (Athens);
  • 2005: Helsinki - Finland: Pr. Olavi Ylikorkala;
  • 2007: Paris - France: Dr. Clara Pélissier-Langbort and Dr. David Serfaty

  • 2009 (10th-13rd September), the 8th Congress of the European Society of Gynecology, in Italy, in Rome, organized by the Pr. Andrea Genazzani (Pisa). Web site : http://www.seg2009.com

General Secretary until October 2007, I was elected President of the European Society of Gynecology during its 7th Congress.
With this very great honor and with this great joy was joined the pleasure of seeing the Pr. Jean-Michel Foidart (Liege - Belgium) becoming General Secretary.

Under his impulse and those of the new Board, considerable improvements and innovations are envisaged, as from now, to meet your concerns more easily.
A Scientific Committee including young European researchers will be a very useful and very profitable contribution.
Lastly, an Internet site reorganized, more modern, easier to consult and more interactive will be available from January 2009.

The Newsletter of our Society will be regularly available on the site and will bring an up to date glance on a common subject concerning all our European countries.

The European Society of Gynecology wants to be open to all the colleagues who are interested by our projects and in particular to our Mediterranean neighbors.

At this beginning of the year 2009, I wish to all of you a very happy new year, hoping to see you joining us within the European Society of Gynecology, while making, right now, an appointment with you in Rome in September 2009.

Dr. Clara Pélissier-Langbort
President of the European Society of Gynecology.
